Having a teenage daughter can sure be a roller coaster ride. Sometimes I never know what type of mood they will be in. Sometimes it is splendid, and others can be a downright scary fit of hormones that makes me want to go and hide in the shed. While there are certainly ups and down of emotions, it is always fun to see them still really enjoy their birthdays, and this was certainly the case last week as Shayla turned 14. For the past couple of years, I have given her some money on her birthday. I told her I would take her wherever she wanted to...

In August of 2019, a front-page story in the Voice detailed the vandalism that occurred at the Three Forks United Methodist Church. Vandalism has also been reported numerous times at local parks including before Christmas at the new portable ice rink. A horrible incident of vandalism also was reported on January 24 at the David DeLaittre Memorial Park. These acts were all disgusting, especially what happened to the church and memorial park, and they have made a lot of people very upset. This is not a representation of the type of community...

I probably watch way too much television, but I could probably think of worse things I could be doing with my time. A great deal of the shows I watch are what you could describe as gritty and it is not uncommon for me to finish a complete season on a Sunday. While a lot of my time is spent watching shows like “Ozark” or “Animal Kingdom”, I also try and find a light-hearted show every once in a while, with a perfect example being “Cobra Kai”. If you are unfamiliar with the show, it picks up the story of the “Karate Kid” 30 years later and one o...

A new portable ice rink was constructed and filled at Stevenson Park and although the weather has not always been cooperating for skaters in 2021, this is such a boon for Three Forks and should benefit residents of all ages. I am not a big fan of huge retail stores. Sometimes it is a necessary evil to go to one of the big box stores to make a purchase but that does not mean I have to enjoy even one second of it. My hometown didn’t get a Walmart until I was in late grade school and I readily admit I was mesmerized when it first opened. Years later I would find out when they opened it pretty much put an end to the small retail shops and stores and that is just sad. Another time when I lived in Washington I wandered into an aisle and saw someone using the bathroom a...
