  • Column: One of those things

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Jan 20, 2021

When I was a kid, I probably spent more time on the golf course than just about anyone in my hometown. If I was staying with my dad, we would get in nine holes before 8 a.m., golf another nine after 5 p.m., and on the weekends play between 18 and 36 holes in a day. By the time I finished high school, I was a little bit burnt out and except for a stretch in 2007 when I golfed four or five times a week, I haven’t been out to the course much. The other day I read that the Three Forks course was open, and this excited me. I’ve never been able to...

  • Column: Radio

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Dec 30, 2020

After my first year of college at the University of Wyoming, I procrastinated a little too long and did not end up finding a job until mid-June. Because I was late finding work and perhaps spending too much of my salary from McDonald’s I was forced/stuck staying at home and attending Western Wyoming College. Growing up I never wanted to attend, but from a financial standpoint it made sense and it is a pretty good school. During one meeting with my advisor, she mentioned the radio station was looking for an intern and I could get credit for help...

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Dec 23, 2020

In a Facebook post last week, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office shared a seasonal reminder that had a very important message. The message detailed how pets are not toys and to not give a puppy and kitten as a gift unless prepared to take care of them for years. • Column: Hood Wars

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Dec 23, 2020

I’m sure I probably sound like a cranky neighbor yelling at people to stay off my lawn who also walked nine miles through a mountain pass to get to school, but kids are just not outside very much anymore. It’s kind of sad because a lot of them are really missing out on all sorts of shenanigans while they aren’t tied to some sort of screen all day. In fact, this is probably true for adults too. During the summer as a kid, I was out the door early and would not come home until with the exception of eating until the streetlights came on and somet...

  • Column: Philly 'Wit' Cheese

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Dec 16, 2020

The City of Philadelphia is rich in history and perhaps and is perhaps as important or more in the creation of the United States as anywhere else. While Philadelphia does have the nickname of the "city of brotherly love", it has also garnered a reputation for having some not so friendly residents. A perfect example of this is witnessed in professional sports where fans have been known to boo just about everyone from the opposing team to their own team and they once in 1968 pelted Santa Claus wit...
