    With a young and talented football team, the future appears to be bright for the Three Forks High School football. Head Coach Connor Sullivan also knows the offseason will be critical for the programs. The Wolves (1-7) wrapped up the 2020 season last Wednesday with a 22-6 road loss at Anaconda.   • Broadwater County Sheriff's Office adds 2 local deputies

    There will soon be an increased presence of law enforcement in southern Broadwater County. At last week's City Council Meeting, Broadwater County Sheriff Wynn Mehan told the governing body he has hired two additional deputies to work in the area. Mehan had personally attended a council meeting earlier this year and said his goal was to get more enforcement at that end of the county.     The Montana High School Association voted last week to delay the start of the winter sports season to January 4. According to Executive Director Mark Beckman, they delayed practices until December 7. The original starting date for practices was November 19. “The delay will allow time for schools and communities to assist in flattening the curve and to get through two holiday seasons within their own teams and within their own communities before contests begin,” Beckman said.     It's postseason time for the Three Forks High School cross country team with the Wolves scheduled to compete Saturday at the State Meet in Kalispell.     Members of the Cub Scout Pack 3523 and Scouts BSA Troop have been working hard to meet their 2020 fundraising goal of $25,000. The fundraising efforts will include a popcorn stand scheduled in the Wheat Montana Parking lot on Saturday, October 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to Cubmaster Jason Kovnesky, they are currently at $12,482, just under 50 percent of their goal.   • Food Bank in need of holiday items

    The Headwaters Area Food Bank in Three Forks has recently seen an increase in traffic. With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner the numbers are expected to only get higher. Operations Director Kim Gelder said on a normal month they give out 40 boxes, and last month it was larger then normal. She added they are anticipating 50 to 75 more Thanksgiving boxes this year, with a goal of 150 available by November 21.     It was a solid week of performances for the Three Forks High and Middle School Cross Country Teams with meets last week in Townsend. Head Coach Tara Forsberg said they had some minor injuries and illness and had to switch up the boys varsity team, but all the runners did great with a lot of PRs and happy athletes.     For the second time this season, the Three Forks High School cross country team was able to compete at home at last Saturday's meet at Headwaters State Park.     The Three Forks School board recently received a bond-building report. Andy Becker, Project Manager for Hulteng CCM, discussed the progress for the $15 million high school and $10 million K-8 bonds that were approved by voters earlier this year.     It was an amazing Monday in Three Forks with the official arrival of a new bookstore. Book Therapy and Moore opened for business on September 21 and is located at 120 (B) South Main Street. The store is owned by Jodi Moore.   • Farmers to Families Assists Area Residents

    From May 1 to September 16, the Headwaters Area Food Bank has been able to help 822 families in Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson Counties through the Farmers to Families program.   • District Hears Positive Feedback About Distance Learning Program

    The feedback on the new Acellus distance learning program in the Three Forks School District has been positive. At last week's School Board meeting, Assistant Principal Jake Lynch told the trustees they were able to get the program up and running September 8 and have 124 enrolled in the program.
