When I was growing up, the summer months always meant that baseball would be on the television. After taking a 9-5 lead after three innings of their April 30 road game at Deer Lodge, the Three Forks High School Softball team exploded in the fourth inning, scoring 17 runs on their way to a 26-5 victory. It was a phenomenal performance for the Three Forks High School Track and Field team at last week's John Cheek Top 8 event in Anaconda. The Wolves girls' team finished first with a team total of 98.5, well above Jefferson High School, which was second with 76.5. The City of Three Forks will soon place four new flashing stop signs on 7th Avenue near the Headwaters Golf Course. At their meeting last week, the Three Forks City Council voted unanimously to purchase the signs after a presentation from Headwaters Golf Course Board members. After a week-long bench trial, 18th Judicial District Judge John C. Brown found 27-year-old Zachary Norman guilty on April 25 of one of two counts of deliberate homicide in the January 15, 2022, shooting deaths of brothers Chase and Brendan Estabrook in Three Forks. In his ruling, Brown found Norman guilty of the deliberate homicide of Chase Estabrook and not guilty of the deliberate homicide of Brendan Estabrook. The City of Three Forks is continuing to work on updating its Capital Improvements Plan. At last week’s City Council meeting, the governing body hosted a public hearing on the Working Draft of the CIP, which was first presented at its March 12 meeting. The City is currently working with Great West Engineering to update the CIP, a prioritized list of infrastructure projects with a schedule for the projects and funding sources. There will be plenty of great shopping this Saturday in Three Forks, with Rusty Bucket Antiques hosting its first Flea Market of 2024. The Flea Market is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of the store located at 16 E. Cedar. Not only did the Three Forks High School Softball team break out of a slump last week, but they did so in impressive fashion, with two double-digit victories. There have been plenty of positives of late as the Three Forks High School Golf team inches closer to the postseason. It was a tremendous day for the Wolves last Thursday in Ennis, led by senior standout and Southern Virginia University bound Ari Judd, who shot a career-low 78. There was fantastic news for the Three Forks and Willow Creek School Districts last week. On Thursday, April 18, the Producer Partnership delivered 931 pounds of top-quality USDA-inspected protein to Willow Creek and 1,185 pounds to Three Forks. As a junior, Three Forks student-athlete Bryon Fanning finished in the top 10 at the Class B Cross Country State Meet, helping his team to back-to-back second-place finishes. Several months later, Fanning would finish the 2022-23 school year in style with two top-ten finishes at the State Track Meet in Butte, including fourth place in the 3200 meters. In his initial court appearance on April 16, 23-year-old Alexander Norbert LeDoux pleaded not guilty to eight counts stemming from a fatal head-on collision that killed 22-year-old Laysa Grewell on January 4 on Interstate 90 near Three Forks. The Three Forks High School Golf team had an impressive day on April 16 at the Manhattan Christian Invitational at the Cottonwood Hills Golf Club in Bozeman. The Three Forks High School Tennis team had fantastic results at last week's Simms Sing and Swing Invitational. On the first day of action on April 19, the Wolves won six of seven singles matches, and another four in doubles play.
