  • Column: What did you shoot Shawn?

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Apr 6, 2022

As I was writing a high school golf story last week, it started to bring back memories of when I decided to join the team before my freshman year in Wyoming. I had been on a golf course since I could walk, so it was only natural I join the team rather than get thrown around like a rag doll on the football field. I was a little nervous before joining because I would always play decent when I was with my dad or other family members, but I always choked big time when I was in a tournament. I tried to play as much golf over the summer, but it...

  • Our View: Please slow it down in school zones

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Feb 23, 2022

Things would be easier in the winter if people drove appropriately for the conditions. As much as I hope this happens, there will always be people driving out of control and endangering not only their lives but those they are sharing a road with. While there most likely always be a few people driving too fast on ice and snow, one thing that never needs to happen is speeding in a school zone. I live about a mile from a school, and daily, I see people flying by the school way faster than they... Full story

  • Column: Too Many Wings

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Feb 23, 2022

It started as friendly banter. It would end several weeks later with me never wanting to eat another chicken wing. One summer night, I watched an NBA Finals game with my buddy at a local watering hole when a commercial for Buffalo Wild Wings came on. As he often would say, perhaps even more after a few cold ones, he wished our town had a “B-Dubs.” This evening, what started as talk about how great wings were and how boneless wings were just way too crunchy chicken nuggets turned into trash talk about who could eat more in one sitting. My fri... Full story

  • Column: Aqua Socks

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Feb 16, 2022

There is never a dull moment with a 15-year-old in the house. There are times when Shayla is as sweet as a fresh Georgia peach, and others that dealing with her is moodiness is worse than a scene from the “Exorcist”. I’m just glad she stays busy with things like volleyball and cheerleading so that she is usually so tired to throw a Herculean-sized fit about something like doing the dishes and cleaning her room. Every once in a while, she will share about something going on or the social dynamics at school, and it reminds me of when I was in se...

Before their regular-season finale Saturday against second-ranked Columbus, Three Forks boys basketball Head Coach Terry Hauser watched Finnley Tesoro shoot during warmups and told Assistant Coach Connor Sullivan the senior sharpshooter was going to have a big night. Hauser was more than correct with his assessment as Tesoro had a school-record eight three-pointers and a game-high 31 points in the 77-59 victory. "Eight is a lot of threes no matter who the opponent is, but to do it on senior... Full story
