  • Our View: Importance of shopping local

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Nov 24, 2021

While Thanksgiving is traditionally known as a time for family and friends to come together, the following day has become synonymous with “Black Friday” and the start of the Christmas shopping season. It is a bit unfortunate that day has turned into such a spectacle with many “box stores” having sales that have traditionally seen people waiting in line for the next great deal just seconds after finishing their second helping of pumpkin pie. As frustrating as it can be to see the masses come out to start their shopping, it is also important to r... Full story

  • Column: Thanksgiving at home

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Nov 24, 2021

Over the past few weeks, I’ve written a lot about food, including sharing a few recipes and my desire to make a seven-hour trip for Shakey’s Pizza and a five-hour venture to Salt Lake City for an In and Out Burger. As incredible as both sound, I’m equally excited about Thanksgiving, which is probably my favorite day of eating throughout the year. As much as I love the opportunity to see family and friends, I’m equally thrilled about a day of food. I’d consider myself a creature of habit, and when we host Thanksgiving, the day usually unfolds i...

  • A trip to Shakey's?

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Nov 17, 2021

When I was in grade school, Friday was always a big deal. Not only did it mean the end of the school week, but chances were also I would be going to what was and still is my favorite restaurant. Around 6 p.m., we would make the short drive to Shakey's Pizza and often not leave for a couple of hours. For those not familiar with the pizza chain, there used to be about 500 restaurants in towns, both big and small. There was fun for the kids with a full arcade, and the adults could have a little... Full story
