  • Column: Fast food and my bike

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Aug 18, 2021

I used to ride my bike everywhere as a kid. Both houses I grew up in were near vast open spaces, and I would spend hours exploring the desert only to stop if I was trying to catch a lizard or horny toad. I prefer to go riding with friends, but if a riding partner was grounded or the rest of the crew was out doing something else, I could spend the day the day away finding different trails. Once I got closer to high school, I would spend less and less time on my bike. I want to say I was encouraged to get a job as a sophomore, but this was not...

  • Column: It can wait

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Aug 11, 2021

Although I have quite a few pet peeves, I try not to let many of them overtake my life daily. If this happened, I would either be so mad I could not function or so crazy that you could probably just put me in a padded cell with a straight jacket and throw away the key. The one thing that I can’t let slide is when people drive like maniacs on an Interstate or highway, which happens way more often than it should. It does not matter if it is in the middle of winter with a sheet of ice covering the road or in the summer when the roads in the G... Full story

  • Column: Sweet Pork

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Aug 4, 2021

A few years back, I received an instant pot as a gift, and I wasn’t sure what to think. I was excited to bring something new to the kitchen but worried because I had always been a little bit intimidated by pressure cookers. I thought it would probably sit in the pantry next to the vegetable cutter we received three or four years ago that is supposed to make things easier but is far more complicated than simply using a knife. It turns out the instant pot was so easy to use that even I could do it, and for the past three years, I have been t...
