It was an impressive second competition of the season for the Three Forks High School Cross Country team at last Friday's Flathead Invitational in Kalispell. It was a magnificent moment last week for the Three Forks School District when they hosted a ribbon cutting to mark the completion of their two-year building project. The Three Rivers Mosquito Control District announced on August 27 that they had a mosquito surveillance trap that had tested positive for the West Nile Virus. District officials are asking area residents to take extra precautions for themselves and their horses and llamas. "While the number of adult mosquitoes is low, the risk of infection from mosquito bites has increased. Three Forks resident Andy Halvorson was recently named the top Nissan Certified Mechanic in the United States. Halvorson, who works at Billion Auto Group in Bozeman, took home the top honor after competing against regional winners at the recent Nissan Service Technical Excellence Competency (NISTEC) National Competition in Nashville. Officials with the Montana Department of Commerce and WGM Group hosted a public meeting last Thursday at the Bridger Brewing Facility in Three Forks, asking residents to provide input on their vision for the future of Broadwater County. The Three Forks High School Cross Country team had a productive start to the season at last Saturday's Jefferson Invite in Boulder. The Wolves boys' team had two runners finish in the top five. Bryon Fanning ended the race in second with a time of 17:05, and Cass Violett finished in fifth at 18:35. At a special ceremony last week, community members could see the unveiling of what has been described as one of Montana's premier school weight rooms. The Three Forks Area Ambulance Service is hosting a fundraiser to raise money to purchase hand-held radios for crew members. The sealed-bid auction will allow residents the opportunity to purchase "The Ogre," an original painting by TFAA crew member Michelle Whitney Bodenheimer. The GCC Trident Plant is once again providing prime rib for a meal at the Three Rivers Senior Center. The annual prime rib "dinner" is scheduled for Thursday, September 7, at noon at the center located at 19 E. Cedar in Three Forks. Three Forks High School Football Head Coach Connor Sullivan is proud of how his team battled in a down-to-the-wire 21-14 loss to Missoula Loyola in a game played at Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The opening weekend of action for the Three Forks High School Volleyball team had plenty of positives. Head Coach Tiffany Lynch said the team played really well at the two-day Choteau Invitational. “We worked on some different lineups with girls in different spots. After the recent upsetting news of vandalism on the new roofing completed as part of the Three Forks Schools Bond Project, Superintendent Rhonda Uthlaut made it very clear that the district will not tolerate this behavior. At last week’s School Board meeting, Uthlaut discussed the August 13 incident where vandalism occurred on the newly completed roof and part of the brick siding. Entering his fifth year at the helm of the Three Forks High School Football team, Wolves Head Coach Connor Sullivan believes the past year has been huge for the development of the program. Since the start of practice earlier this month, new Three Forks High School Volleyball Head Coach Tiffany Lynch has been pleased with what she has witnessed from 31 players who tried out for the 2023 team. Three Forks High School sophomore Danni Kober was recently selected to sing Alto II in the prestigious Montana All-State Choir. Kober will join others from around the state to perform at the Montana Music Educator Festival scheduled for October 18 to 20 in Missoula. The Montana Warrior Run-Gallatin Valley, a fundraiser for Impact Montana, is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, at Veterans Park in Three Forks. The City of Three Forks could learn as early as next month if they will be officially awarded a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant for the ongoing Flood Mitigation Project. In early May, the Montana Department of Transportation announced the Headwaters Rest Area near Three Forks would be opening as soon as possible, pending the completion of some final facility details. The Gallatin County Commission voted last week to finalize American Rescue Plan Act funding for the Three Forks Area Ambulance Service. According to Commissioner Scott MacFarlane, TFAA approached the governing body in late 2020, stating they needed some matching dollars to help purchase a new ambulance.
