I’m old enough to remember when MTV played videos rather than a 24/7 schedule that does not include any music. Earlier this year, I giggled when I saw they still host the MTV Music Awards and found this strange since they most likely haven’t played a video in 20 years. I can remember turning on MTV before I went to the school bus stop and the joy of hearing a new song from one of my favorite artists. I used to also eagerly await getting money for Christmas or a birthday and heading to the record store to pick out a new cassette tape. There was...

Later this week, the Three Forks United Methodist Church will start accepting donations for their Spring Rummage Sale. This is a fantastic opportunity for residents to go through items they may not use that could be donated for an extremely worthwhile sale. Organizers of this event should be commended for volunteering to host biannual sales that allow people to get much needed items such as clothing, housewares, and kitchen items for a great rate. Having events like this is not only crucial for many to get needed items, it says so much about...
Just when I thought winter had taken its final bow, last week was a perfect example of this was not the case. Mother Nature will do whatever it wants, and I might have to wait a few weeks to bring out the lawnmower. Growing up in Wyoming and having lived the past seven years in Montana, I am no stranger to snow late in the season, and I remember a few times as a kid getting a little bit in June. There were always stories about how it once snowed on the fourth of July in my hometown, but I think these tall tales may have been coming from the...

The older I get, the less social life I have, and I am completely okay with this. I remember often being told that I was a “social butterfly,” but those days are long gone, and I’m fine with getting done with work and getting into pajamas hours before the sun goes down without worrying about hosting anyone. I figure I’m out in public enough for work that when I’m home, I just want to relax and not worry about anything but what to watch on tv. Every once in a while, I will emerge from my very comfortable cocoon and invite some friends or family... Full story
As I was writing a high school golf story last week, it started to bring back memories of when I decided to join the team before my freshman year in Wyoming. I had been on a golf course since I could walk, so it was only natural I join the team rather than get thrown around like a rag doll on the football field. I was a little nervous before joining because I would always play decent when I was with my dad or other family members, but I always choked big time when I was in a tournament. I tried to play as much golf over the summer, but it...
