While Thanksgiving is traditionally known as a time for family and friends to come together, the following day has become synonymous with “Black Friday” and the start of the Christmas shopping season. It is a bit unfortunate that day has turned into such a spectacle with many “box stores” having sales that have traditionally seen people waiting in line for the next great deal just seconds after finishing their second helping of pumpkin pie. As frustrating as it can be to see the masses come out to start their shopping, it is also important to r... Full story
Over the past few weeks, I’ve written a lot about food, including sharing a few recipes and my desire to make a seven-hour trip for Shakey’s Pizza and a five-hour venture to Salt Lake City for an In and Out Burger. As incredible as both sound, I’m equally excited about Thanksgiving, which is probably my favorite day of eating throughout the year. As much as I love the opportunity to see family and friends, I’m equally thrilled about a day of food. I’d consider myself a creature of habit, and when we host Thanksgiving, the day usually unfolds i...

When I was in grade school, Friday was always a big deal. Not only did it mean the end of the school week, but chances were also I would be going to what was and still is my favorite restaurant. Around 6 p.m., we would make the short drive to Shakey's Pizza and often not leave for a couple of hours. For those not familiar with the pizza chain, there used to be about 500 restaurants in towns, both big and small. There was fun for the kids with a full arcade, and the adults could have a little... "Some people like to get up early and do their exercise by skating around the rink," he said. When it... Full story
While they were unable to advance out of last month's 5B District Volleyball Tournament in Manhattan, the four matches provided a wonderful learning experience for the younger players on the team. Our goal was to be in a position to extend our season at tournament time. And they did that, we just unfortunately did not play our best when we... Full story

I think it would probably be safe to say that I might watch a little bit too much “true crime” television. While some may describe my pastime as a bit macabre, I am always fascinated by the stories. I must not be alone because several networks are dedicated to nothing but a full true-crime schedule. As much as I enjoy watching the crimes unfold about every four or five episodes, I get a little frustrated with the narration of the episodes. Often, this will happen at the start of an episode when they describe the shocking crime, which is quickly... Full story
