The Three Forks Volunteer Fire Department is once again giving back to the local community with their annual food drive for the Headwaters Area Food Bank. This year’s drive will also include a fundraising sloppy joe dinner for the department scheduled for Tuesday, November 9, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the fire hall. According to Assistant Chief John Whitesitt, the department will not be going door-to-door in 2021 since they will be cooking the sloppy joe dinners. The future is bright for the Three Forks High School Football team. Last week, the Three Forks City Council heard an update about test wells that will be drilled as the first phase of an ongoing water project. Susan Hayes of Great West Engineering told the Council they solicited bids for the two wells to be drilled as part of the first phase, and they both came in just over $45,000 each, over the $80,000 maximum. Hayes said that although they can only award the bid for one well, this works out quite well for the City of Three Forks. The Great Harvest Bazaar is scheduled for next week in Three Forks. The event will take place Saturday, October 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Three Forks High School Gym. Organizer Brooke McLees said the idea behind the bazaar came from wanting to share all sorts of products for the holiday season in one easy indoor event. With the Fall Cleanup dumpsters scheduled for October 23, City of Three Forks officials announced a significant change to the annual event at the Rodeo Grounds. Vehicle break-ins and thefts at trailheads in Gallatin County were once again a problem during the summer months of 2021. The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office reported an uptick of the instances in September, and according to Sheriff Dan Springer, trailheads are always an issue, and they are usually a crime of opportunity. After record attendance numbers in 2021, Three Forks Rodeo Executive Secretary Christina Kamps joked that board members are still recovering from July’s annual Three Forks NRA Rodeo. Three months after the event, Kamps said last week she was thrilled with how the event went and how vital the record attendance will be for making the loan payment for the new bleachers and helping out with expenses to fix their tractor and water truck. The Three Forks Chamber of Commerce has a new Executive Director. Deb Niedermeyer, who was hired to fill the position earlier this month, said she is thrilled to be selected.
