On Thursday of last week, Governor Steve Bullock declared a state of emergency to exist within the state of Montana related to the communicable disease COVID-19 novel coronavirus. In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, Bullock announced Sunday a two-week closure of public schools in the state from March 16 to March 27. Those who have recently driven by the local schools are sure to have noticed a portable radar speed sign that was recently purchased and placed by the City of Three Forks. According to City Clerk Crystal Turner, the Council approved the purchase of the sign in January with money from their gas tax fund. The Bozeman/Gallatin Complete Count Committee are proudly launching a mascot and brand to support the efforts of the Census in our community. "Max" a cheeky dog with floppy ears and an inquisitive smile reminds all of us to "Max the Count" during the 2020 Census. The dog, who is loosely based off Bozeman Police Chief Steve Crawford's pup of the same name, is designed by local artist Seth Neilson and is a part of a larger effort to spread the word about the importance of the Census in Montana....
A little over five years ago Melissa and I went to go watch a UFC fight card in Las Vegas that featured Conor McGregor as well as many other well-known MMA fighters. It was a glorious time and I still think fondly on it often. Although most of the trip went smoothly with a lot of smiles, there was one hiccup that has also been remembered. Due to fears about the corona virus, we've been notified that we must temporarily close the Senior Center to group use such as serving meals or playing games. This closure is expected to take effect this week and last for up to four weeks.
