Governor Greg Gianforte announced Friday the disbursement of nearly $6.3 million in federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to 18 towns and cities across the state. The City of Three Forks is set to receive $262,463.90. Officials reported Sunday, June 13 the 330-acre Willow Creek Fire near Three Forks was at 100 percent containment. The was first reported at 3:37 p.m. June 9 on private land six miles southwest of Three Forks on the west side of U.S. Highway 287 and the north side of MT Hwy 2 in Jefferson County. There was more positive news recently for the Headwaters Trail System. At last week's Three Forks City Council Meeting, Councilmember Gene Townsend reported he was informed trail system was the recipient of a Gallatin County Open Lands Grant for $75,000. Townsend also received notice from the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks that the trail system would receive a $15,000 grant for maintenance. Mild weather during the first quarter of 2021 contributed to a record number of visitors for Montana State Parks. MSP recorded 393,175 park visitors in the first quarter, a 20.2% increase over 2020 and a 78% increase over the same period in 2019. Of the 40 state parks that were seasonally open during this period, 80% experienced an increase in estimated visitation compared with last year. The City of Three Forks Wading Pool at Stevenson Park is officially open for the summer season. The hours for the pool are 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will close on all legal holidays. The City reserves the right to close the pool due to lack of staffing or inclement weather. RULES: 1. This is not a baby-sitting club.
