Kim Lazoff, the founder of Custom Cups by Kim, started crafting several years ago after learning how to create each item by watching YouTube videos. After watching a video about sublimation – the process of printing a pattern onto a solid material using ink and heat – Lazoff decided to give it a try, despite not having the tools to do so. • Guest Opinion: It's Time for FWP to Follow the Law on Elk Management

    Debby Barrett|Aug 3, 2022

Montana’s elk population has tripled over the last 40 years. For decades we have exceeded the sustainable objective levels in most hunting districts. FWP’s goal is 92,000 elk in Montana, but today there are an estimated 175,000. That excess elk population causes immense damage to family ranch operations in overpopulated areas, and it’s a problem that grows worse every year. What’s frustrating is we saw this problem coming years ago and set policies to address it. In 2003, I sponsored House Bill 42, which mandated that the Montana Fish & Game... Full story

  • Column: Trash Roulette

    Jack H. Smith, Three Forks Voice|Aug 3, 2022

While the Voice hits newsstands on Wednesday, the paper is usually about 95 percent done by noon on Monday, so I generally start getting things together on Tuesday for the next edition. I generally like to have a column that is something lighthearted and can hopefully make a few people laugh or smile. This week I was having a rough time trying to think of something to write about, but the idea came to me when I was throwing away a morning protein shake in the kitchen trash can. After opening the lid, I had to stop things from falling out. This...

    Aug 3, 2022

The Gallatin County Commission is considering asking voters to decide on a mill levy to fund operations of the Gallatin Rest Home, the soon-to-be only skilled nursing facility in the county. On Tuesday, July 26, commissioners unanimously passed a resolution of intent to put a 9-mill levy on the November general election ballot. Our county simply can’t ignore or wish-away the record growth happening around us and I know it is possible to manage. Acceptance of this and jumping in with both feet... Full story

  • Coaches Corner: Anything is possible

    Ellie West, Contributing Writer|Aug 3, 2022

Since 2020, there seems to have been a shift in people's lives and professions. How often do we think about our purpose and passions but never take action? Returning from a women's retreat, we were talking about our intent. A question came up, and I was asked, "What would you do if you were not afraid? I had to ponder that question for a few minutes before answering. My answer somewhat surprised me as the tears flowed, but I felt a sense of peace. Do we often not do something we want to do...
