The City of Three Forks recently sent a letter to Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks Director Dustin Temple asking for a meeting with the agency about the Three Forks Ponds. At last week's Council meeting, Mayor Randy Johnston discussed the letter, which was drafted after City officials learned about House Bill 521, a new law requiring anyone over 12 to have a Recreational Use License, even if they are on leased recreation lands. In October 2020, the City of Three Forks entered into a ten-year lease... Full story

"Looking into the future, the south end of Broadwater County is going to continue to grow. Bozeman, Manhattan, and Three Forks are all growing, and so will Broadwater County," Rauser said. During a... Full story

Montana is a northern border state with a southern border crisis. After visiting the southern border this fall, my third trip in five years, I can say with certainty that the catastrophe at our southern border is now a serious threat to our national security and the result of the failed policies of President Biden and congressional Democrats. The facts are frightening. The State Department designates four countries as state sponsors of terrorism: Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria. In October,... Full story

Montana has inked a deal to send 120 state inmates to a private prison facility in Arizona, the Department of Corrections announced this week. The shift, which officials say is necessary to relieve crowding in the state prison system, drew widespread debate during the 2023 legislative session as lawmakers wrestled over the most effective way to solve capacity issues at Montana's state facilities. Already, Montana has moved 30 prisoners to Arizona under the terms of the state's existing roughly... Full story
Yellowstone National Park announced this week that a mule deer buck inside the park’s borders has tested positive for chronic wasting disease. The detection is a first for the park, which has previously managed to dodge the always-fatal disease despite its presence in the three states that neighbor Yellowstone. In a Tuesday press release, the park said that the Wyoming Game and Fish Department tested the carcass of a radio-collared mule deer that died in the southeastern section of the park near Yellowstone Lake. The release notes that t... Full story
