There is a new member of the Three Forks School Board of Trustees.
Mat Marx was voted into the position last week. He will fill the term of Sheri Brown who resigned earlier this month. His term will expire in May of 2021. The board also interviewed Jason Coursey for the vacancy.
During the interview process, Marx said he has been asked a few times over the years to be on the board by a bunch of people but was busy running the Three Forks baseball team. He said now the baseball program is running well has the time to dedicate to the board. Marx added he wants to be part of the bond building procedures and will listen to the community, putting their needs first.
In his interview, Coursey told the board he has a son in first grade, and he would just like to know the schools are doing the best they can to given not only students but the teachers what they need to do the best job they can.
Kamerman said this is a tough decision and she likes what both would bring to the board.
In other business, the board voted to cancel school on November 23, and 24 due to the safety of staff, students, and community members due to the rise of COVDI-19 cases in Gallatin County.
