A vehicle and numerous other items were taken last week from a residence in the Milligan Canyon area.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff Craig Doolittle, the truck and items were stolen on April 4 around 6:15 a.m. on Cottonwood Road in Cardwell. Doolittle said the vehicle was taken from a residence where the owners were not home, and a neighbor saw the theft and called it in.
In a Facebook post, a resident of the home reported other items stolen included six firearms, power tools, a MacBook and 50 pounds of beef.
Doolittle said the truck and some of the items had been recovered, but the rest of the case is still under investigation. The resident reported in the Facebook post that most of their items were not yet recovered, but their truck did have many other people’s stolen goods, including mail.
Doolittle said they have vehicles stolen all over the county, including rural areas. He added that mail theft has been an issue across the country for many years, especially in rural areas and mailboxes along the roadway.
