Competing for the first time since a season-opening meet on August 28 in Boulder, the Three Forks High School Cross Country team again showed they are one of the stronger teams in Class B with a strong performance last week at the Bozeman Invitational.
"We had a great meet. Our ladies' team was missing a couple due to illness but still had a strong competition. Jayden Woodland ran really strong, and my next three, Bella Jones, Isabella Fink, and Ari Judd, ran together the whole race. All three said they felt good and were very happy with their run," said Head Coach Tara Forsberg. "Our boys' team came out strong and had an excellent race. Garrett Golding and Beau Johnston came in within a second of each other. Bryon Fanning was close behind."
The Wolves boys team finished in 12th place, ahead of three Class AA teams and 2 Class A squads. Golding finished with a time of 17:49.79, Johnston was right behind at 17:50.63., and Fanning ended the race at 18:16.67. Others competing for the Wolves were Jacob Ramsey (19:12.62), Jaron Berg (19:16.62), Cass Violett (20:11.70), Rhett Violett (21:27.93), Fin Hanson (22:30.77), Lucas Roberts (25:25.06), and Sam Ramsey (25:53).
The Three Forks girls also had a strong team performance at the large invite, finishing ahead of three Class AA teams and one Class A squad.
Woodland finished 33rd out of 140 runners with a time of 21:09. Fink finished at 23:05.50, Judd had a time of 23:06.56, and Jones finished at 23:06.90.
Others competing for Three Forks were Deyyn Judd (25:44.79), and Grace Kluin (28:12.15).
Forsberg is looking forward to the next competition this week when the team travels to Missoula for the Mountain West Invitational.
"We are all pleased with their efforts and look forward to Missoula this week (Saturday)," she said.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Three Forks Middle School teams also had strong performances in the 2300 Meter race.
The boys' squad was led by eighth-grader Chris Harmon, who finished 11th with a time of 8:21.20.
Others competing for the Wolves were Howie Gayle (9:30.95), Jayson Davisson (10:19.31), Cannon Greene (10:38.29), Chaynce Roberts (10:50.31), Wyatt Crossair (11:22.80), Everhett Israel (11:22.80), Benson Judd (11:56.92), Jacoby Berg (13:39.10), Kuyler Ward (15:05.57), and Zane Pauzauskie (15:25.70).
Dawson Petersen (10:48.29) and Teagan Gifford (10:54.31) led a strong performance from the girls' team.
Others competing for Three Forks were Lily Lemons (12:51.07), Victoria Kotter (12:52.09), Josephine Beardsley (12:52.69), Caroline Tennant (13:06.65), Anna Dabling (13:25.04), and Zoe Dabling (14:00.06.).
