Violet Marie Saltness, 85 of Three Forks, MT passed away on September 16th at her home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 8, 1935 in Steele, ND the daughter of Herbert and Olga Lundeen. She grew up with her sister Rosella on the family farm north of Tuttle, ND and attended the country school, often getting there by horseback or horse drawn sleigh. Upon graduating, she attended Business School in Valley City, ND.
On June 6, 1954, Violet married Dale Saltness; they were the first couple to wed in the new Tuttle Lutheran Church. Three children were born to this union: Kraig, Korrine and Kirby. 50 years ago, this past August the family moved to Montana making Three Forks their new home. Violet worked alongside Dale in their electrical contracting business.
Violet's Christian faith was an important part of her life. Violet enjoyed camping, fishing, playing pinochle and spending time with her family. Violet's fried egg sandwiches were always a big treat to her grandchildren. In later years the highlight of her days was having morning coffee with her boys.
Violet is survived by her sons Kraig (Beverly), Kirby (Jana) of Three Forks, daughter Korrine of Sand Point, ID; 13 grandchildren, Cory (Keelie) Duncan, Kara (Erik) Norwood, Kelli (Casey) Waldhauser, Joshua (Sheena) Tilley, Jared Palmer, Aaron Palmer, Shannon (Jon) Mann, Paul (Christa) Palmer, Jordon (Catarina) Palmer, Cassidy Reynolds, Sam (Bailee) Palmer, Kori (Michael) Frank, Randa (Joey) Reneger; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her husband Dale, sister Rosella Newton, 3 sisters-in-law and 5 brothers-in-law.
Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Violet's life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 2nd at K&L Mortuary, with a reception to follow at the Three Forks Senior Center. Memorials may be made to Three Forks Ambulance, Three Forks Methodist Church or a charity of people's choice.
