It has been so far so good as the Three Forks High School track team preps for their season-opening meet Thursday, March 31 in Columbus.
Head Coach Tracy Welter said things have been going well and lauded her 2022 squad and noted along with some talented returning athletes, they also have a very strong core of freshmen girls.
"This is one of those years where every kid is a pleasure to work with. I, along with the other coaches, are very excited and happy to be around these athletes," Welter said.
Leading the way for the team will be one of the best track athletes in the state and defending Class B long jump champion Jasmyn Murphy.
"We are all eager to see how she (Murphy) will improve in all her events this season," Welter said.
Along with Murphy, Welter said the team will return state qualifier Brielle Davis and add Jayden Woodland, who medaled at the 2021 State Cross Country meet.
Welter said on the boys' team, Garret Golding is back to burn up the track, and he will be joined by a host of talented cross-country runners.
"Our distance program should have a very good year," she said.
Also back on the team is senior Jacob Buchignani, who Welter said should fare well in the sprint events this season.
The Wolves will wrap up the week Saturday at the Class B Kickoff at Lockwood High School.
