Montana State University hosted 20 high school students from across the U.S. earlier this month for a summit aimed at addressing looming shortages in the fisheries and wildlife biology workforce.
The Hutton Scholars Summit, a part of the American Fisheries Society's Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program, is designed to stimulate interest among underrepresented and minority youth in fisheries science, aquatic science and natural resource-related careers. The ultimate goal is to address looming shortages of workers in these fields as older professionals step into retirement.
