The Three Forks High School volleyball team picked up their first conference win last Thursday with an impressive three-set (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) victory at rival Manhattan.
"We are super excited about our win in Manhattan. We found ourselves in similar situations against Boulder and just couldn't quite get going enough to win. Against Manhattan, we were much more resilient and did a better job of finishing out sets," said head coach Shann Mack. "Every win or loss is a total team effort, but Hannah (Weisz) and Natalie (Pestel) did great on the outside, and defensively those two, Fallon (Page) and Addi (Pestel) did a great job staying consistent. Morgan (Carr) again, did an outstanding job bettering the ball and spreading out the offense. Cheyenne (Cavin), Eva (Parker), and Tanaya (Hauser) did an outstanding job setting our block so our defense could find the ball."
Carr led the team with 32 assists and eight digs. Natalie Pestel and Weisz each had a team-high 12 kills. Natalie Pestel also had a team-high six aces. Cavin had a match-high two blocks, and Weisz and Addi Pestel each had nine digs.
Three Forks opened conference play last Tuesday with a road loss (25-21, 25-22, 25-23) at Jefferson High School.
"We competed very well in Boulder, but unfortunately, we could not gain enough momentum to pull off the win. Boulder is a strong team and well-coached. As our opening away match, I was proud of the way our girls kept their composure and battled to the end," Mack said.
Three Forks will next play on September 8 at Big Timber, and they will open their home schedule on September 15 against Townsend.
