The Three Forks High School Boys’ Basketball team will open 5B District play this week with a road matchup Friday, December 16, against Whitehall and their home opener on December 17 at Big Timber.
In a busy first week of action, the Wolves fell 73-32 on December against Manhattan Christian, 56-29 to Belt on December 9, and 43-32 on December 10 against Fairfield.
Head Coach Terry Hauser said he is pleased with how much the team has improved over the season’s first three games.
“We had a chance to win on Saturday against a very talented Fairfield team, so that was a huge plus,” he said.
Dylan Swenson had a strong weekend of action at the Shelby Tournament, leading the Wolves with 11 points against Belt. Swenson and Caleb Van Vleet led the team with nine Saturday against the Eagles.
“Dylan gained more confidence on the offensive end each game. He had a great second half on Saturday, scoring all 11 of his points,” Hauser said.
In the season opener against MCHS, Shane Williams led the way for Three Forks with nine points. Swenson, Tallyn McCauley, and Sam Tesoro each had five. Colten Hayder finished with two, and Carson Woodland and Hunter Feddes each finished with two.
Van Vleet was the second-leading scorer against Belt with six, Tesoro had five, and McCauley added three. Hayder had two, and Williams and Cory Potts both finished with one.
Looking toward the two 5B matchups this week, Hauser said the team needs to keep getting better and improve on everything they have put in so far.
“We will also take some time on handling pressure and trying our best to limit turnovers as that has been a big issue of ours,” he said.
