The Three Forks Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter is hosting the Southwest Leadership Development event next week.
According to Advisor Connie Olsen, approximately 200 to 250 Blue and Gold Jackets will converge at Three Forks High School on Friday, January 20, at the event that will take place from 7 a.m. to around 3 p.m.
"The purpose of these competitions is to challenge students to develop critical thinking skills and effective decision-making skills, foster teamwork, and promote communication while recognizing the value of ethical competition and individual achievement. The winners of the district competition will go on to compete at the state level," Olsen said.
Competitions at the event include Parliamentary Procedure and Conduct of Chapter Meeting, Junior and Senior Creed, Prepared Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Sales.
Along with Three Forks, Southwest District Schools attending the event will be Dillon, Lima, East Helena, Townsend, White Sulphur Springs, Harlotown, Ryegate, Shields Valley, Big Timber, Belgrade, Livingston, Gardiner, Twin Bridges, and Sheridan.
Olsen said they are still looking for volunteers to judge the sales; prior experience is not needed.
"Come support not only the Three Forks but chapters from all over Montana," Olsen said.
If you would like to volunteer for the sales competition, please contact Connie Olsen, FFA Advisor, at 406-285-3224 ext 222 or colsen@threeforks.k12.mt.us.
