In non-conference action last week, the Three Forks High School Boys' Basketball team lost 51-41 on January 10 at East Helena and 66-47 on January 14 at home against Manhattan Christian.
"We had two tough opponents this past weekend. I thought we played really well, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We didn't capitalize in either game. We missed way too many opportunities at the line versus East Helena that could have put us in a position to win the game," said Head Coach Terry Hauser. "We just didn't score enough against Christian. Playing a talented team like that, you can't hold them for very long, and we just didn't take advantage of finishing inside, and we shot a very low percentage from the arc."
Dylan Swenson led the Wolves in scoring against MHCS with a game-high 20 points. Caleb Van Vleet was also in double figures with 10. Shane Williams finished with eight, and Sam Tesoro had four. Tallyn McCauley and Cory Potts each had two points, and Devon Long added one.
Hunter Feddes and Swenson led the team in scoring at East Helena with seven points, and Williams added six. Van Vleet and McCauley both had four. Tesoro, Colten Hayder, and Carson Woodland all had three.
Three Forks (4-6, 4-1) will host Columbus on January 20 and will travel on January 21 to Big Timber.
"Columbus is a very talented team. We need to make them run and force some turnovers so we can get some east transition buckets. We have to contain their two best players. They have a really talented guard and a 6'7" big guy that we need to get away from the hoop on defense by setting lots of ball screens and making him defend the perimeter. I am excited to get back to conference play on Saturday," Hauser said.
