On the morning of February 2, 2023, Kenneth Lloyd Ypma died peacefully in his home at the age of 83. Ken was born March 16, 1939, in Bozeman Montana, to Ray and Dorothy Ypma. Ken lived in and around the Gallatin Valley his entire life. Ken attended school in Churchill Montana at Manhattan Christian School, where he excelled as a pitcher on the baseball team.
For most of his working life, Ken was a general contractor, and builder in the Gallatin valley. Around the valley, the homes, and structures he constructed are a monument to his skill, dedication and mastery of his craft.
Ken was an avid collector of primitives and antiques. He enjoyed working in his shop, building furniture for his family. Ken also enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He loved sharing his knowledge of & the history of both his family heritage & the Gallatin Valley where he grew up. He was a true son of Montana.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Dorothy (Vanderby) Ypma, brother Don Ypma, brother Ray Lee Ypma. He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon (Van Dyke) Ypma, Brother Les (Donna) Ypma, Sons Vince, Craig and Scott, Ypma. Grandchildren Jacqueline (Keenan) Dalrymple, Samantha Ypma, and great grandchildren Olivia Gastelum, Giovanni Gastelum, Elliot Dalrymple, Nolan Dalrymple. He is also survived by his beloved little dog Bobo who could be found at his feet constantly.
At Kens request there will be no service. The family will schedule a celebration of his life in the summer when friends and family can enjoy fellowship and share stories about Ken.
