With their inaugural season inching closer, the Three Forks High School Softball team has its first Head Coach after Clay Feliciano was hired to lead the new Wolves program.
While thankful for the opportunity, Feliciano said he is more excited for the girls to have the ability to continue playing the game they all love.
"My goal for the program's first year is that we all, coaching staff and players build strong relationships and grow together. We want to establish a supportive and encouraging culture," he said.
In June of 2022, the Three Forks School Board approved softball as a spring sport at the high school, and Feliciano is very supportive of the support the team has received over the past several months.
"Without our community, this would not have been possible. We have had a ton of financial support to get the program into the school and keep it going for these first three seasons. Very grateful for all who donated and or contributed in some way and continue to do so," he said.
Looking towards the season, the team started open gyms in mid-January.
"The number of girls is not set, but it is looking like we will be right around 15, give or take a couple," he said.
According to Feliciano, his children and a little shove from a good friend led him into coaching.
"I have now coached for six seasons between baseball and softball at the recreational and travel ball level. This is a big jump for me, and I'm grateful for the opportunity and will give it 100% of my devotion," he said.
