Along with several key returners, there will be plenty of new faces on the 2023 Three Forks High School Golf Team.
"We are super excited again this year to have over 30 kids out for the golf team, with roughly half of those coming out for the first time. Great to see kids want to try and improve at the game of golf," said Head Coach Aaron Harkins.
On the girls' team, Harkins said they lost a few key seniors from last year but do have a handful of underclassmen that will hopefully be able to fill in some of those positions.
"We have two players back from the second place State team in Senior Lydia Kluin and Junior Ari Judd. These two, along with Paige Lien, will provide an excellent foundation to lean on going forward," Harkins said.
Looking at the boys' team, Harkins feels they have a decent group of sophomores returning for their sophomore years and will return upperclassmen in seniors Dylan Kamps and Morgan Karn.
"The coaching staff is really excited about both teams and our chances this year, and all we are waiting for now, is a decent stretch of nice weather so we can get some quality practices in," he said.
Regarding the season-opening meet on March 27 in Helena, Harkins said the team is first and foremost looking for a decent forecast to get out on the course.
"After that, we are keeping our expectations in check. After a long winter and not being able to hit putts on a real green yet, we hope the kids just go out and keep the ball in play and have some fun. We will work on getting the scores down as the year goes on, and we are able to get some more practice under our belts," he said.
