The Three Forks High School Softball team continued to make waves during its inaugural season, picking up three victories last week at a two-day tournament with games in Missoula and Florence.
On April 21, the Wolves defeated Plains, 12-10, and won 8-7 over Eureka. The following day, Three Forks shined with a dramatic 12-11 come-from-behind victory over Eureka.
"I am very pleased with the way the team played. The bats are really starting to show up in the bottom half of the order, which is great," said Head Coach Clay Feliciano. "The girls are starting to come together as a team on and off the field. The dugout energy was off the chart all weekend, which I believe helped lead them to victory."
The weekend's highlight for the Wolves was the April 22 win against Eureka.
"We were down most of the game and just couldn't get much going. The girls impressed me with their perseverance; they never gave up, and when some started to get down, their teammates were right there to pick them up. They learned that good things happen when you stay positive and believe in themselves. We had our first big come from behind walk scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh," Feliciano said.
In the huge final inning, Feliciano said Three Forks was set up by walks from Grace Kluin and Ada Rae Thomas, followed by clutch hits from Sierra Schall, Fallon Page, Eva Parker, and Maycee Church.
"Schall and Page singled, Parker had a huge game-tying double, and Maycee Church came in and hit the walk-off single," Feliciano said.
The Wolves will next play on April 28 at Deer Lodge.
"We have to clean things up defensively and on our baserunning, but they are coming along nicely," Feliciano said.
