It was a dynamic performance for the Three Forks High School Football team last Friday night, with the Wolves picking up a 32-6 road victory at Shepherd.
"It was awesome to see. Seeing those kids excited after a big win versus a ranked opponent was amazing. They deserved it," said Head Coach Connor Sullivan. "Everyone brought the right mindset and came out with a competitive edge. Props to the whole team for competing and playing good ball."
Going into the matchup, Sullivan had stressed the importance of defending the Mustangs' wishbone offense. He said the Wolves settled in on defense after the first Shepherd drive and got the nerves out.
"We really came out after that and played a physical brand of football. It's a tough offense to defend, and the kids rose to the challenge," he said.
On offense, Sullivan was pleased with how the team performed but said they still have work to do.
"There were a couple of times where we would move the ball and fizzle out a little bit, especially in the second half. Again, we will watch the tape and correct those mistakes moving forward. Overall, the offense did a great job for us keeping the chains moving and putting the ball in the end zone," he said.
Three Forks (1-1) will open their home season on Thursday, September 7, against Whitehall (1-1).
After two road games to open the season, Sullivan said the team is ready to play at home.
"They want to play in front of their school, friends, family, and community. It's another great opponent in Whitehall. We will play on Thursday, so we have a quick turnaround. We need another great week of practice and focus. But it will feel great playing in front of our fans for our home opener," he said.
