It was an impressive second competition of the season for the Three Forks High School Cross Country team at last Friday's Flathead Invitational in Kalispell.
Head Coach Tara Forsberg said it was an excellent day for both the boys' and girls' teams at the meet, featuring some of the state's top programs and a combined 347 student-athletes competing in the varsity races.
Forsberg said Bryon Fanning ran a stunning 16:38.57 for the Wolves boys' squad. With the amazing performance, the senior standout set a school record in the 5,000-meter race.
It was also a strong day for the rest of the varsity squad, with Cass Violett finishing with a time of 18:04.84, Micah Gather ending the race at 19:38.17, Christopher Harmon finishing at 19:43.27, Kiai Ingraham finishing at 20:09.06, Lucas Petersen ended with a time of 21:33.14, and Rhett Violett finishing at 21:42.07.
Forsberg also lauded the girls' varsity team performance, who she said looked confident and solid in Kalispell. Forsberg said Bella Jones (21:45.70), Teegan Gifford (22:39.60), and Ari Judd (22:58.38) led the way for the Wolves, all finishing under 23 minutes.
Grace Kluin finished the race at 23:18.93, Devynn Judd finished at 25:54.65, and Dawson Petersen had a time of 28:40.92.
Gavin Richards led the way in the boys' varsity race at 22:29.79. Jace Wiseman finished at 24:49.86, and Jacoby Berg had a time of 26:17.49.
In the girls' varsity race, Pailey Lampers had a time of 31:36.17, Aubrey Lema finished at 32:08.80, and Anna Dabling finished at 37:41.90.
Forsberg said the team will now focus their training for a meet on Saturday in Bozeman.
