Going into last week's Divisional Meet in Columbus, Three Forks Speech, Drama, and Debate Head Coach Bronwyn Evans hoped to get half the team's 15 competitors to qualify for state. The Wolves did just that and more, finishing the tournament with an amazing 11 qualifying for this week's State meet, which is scheduled for January 26 and 27 in Choteau.
"I am super proud of the hard work and dedication of all of the students to prepare for Divisional. Their commitment showed. A highlight for me was qualifying all 6 of our seniors: Noah Murphy, Maddie Griffiths, Jordan Berg, Lauren Welch, Zoe Pyfer, and Des Nienhuis," said Evans. "All the hours and effort that have been put into this season have come down to this weekend, and I am confident we will have an excellent State tournament."
Three Forks had several students finish in second place at Divisionals. CJ Duvall was second in Humorous Solo, Griffiths and Murphy were second in Public Forum Debate, and Lance Demaray finished second in SPOI.
Newt Nienhuis was fourth in Impromptu, and Zoe Pyfer and Taeyana Gesker placed fourth in Humorous Theater.
Welch was sixth in SPOI, and Lydia Ogeka and Violet Donnelly placed eighth in Humorous Theater. Jordan Berg finished eighth in SPOI.
