In a thrilling showdown, the Bozeman 19U hockey team emerged victorious in the state tournament against Missoula. Bozeman, the underdogs in the match, pulled off a stunning victory in overtime with a 4-3 score.
Missoula headed into the match undefeated for the season, but Bozeman showed grit and determination, overcoming a 3-1 lead early in the game. The team's strong teamwork and skillful play were on display throughout the tournament, and their hard work paid off with the state title.
Meanwhile, the Bozeman 14U team had a solid showing, but unfortunately fell short of making it to the championship round. However, they secured a third-place finish after beating Billings on Sunday. Three Girls from Three Forks, Acie Kelley, Teegan Gifford, and Aislynn Gifford, were named game MVPs over the weekend, along with Gabriella Bagley of Belgrade who won game MVP against Flathead Thursday night.
Overall, it was a great weekend of hockey as girls' teams from around the state gathered in Glasgow to compete for the title of state champion.
The 14U girls had a successful season and will look forward to building upon their success next year with the core group of players returning for their final year of 14U hockey. Coaches Craig Carr and Sage Barta have done a tremendous job in building a quality program for young women in Gallatin Valley, and their efforts are sure to pay off in future seasons.
