There was plenty of excitement last March as the Three Forks High School Softball readied for the first season in program history. The Wolves did not disappoint in their inaugural campaign, finishing just one win away from qualifying for the state tournament.
With season two underway, Head Coach Clay Feliciano said the players and coaches are excited to start.
"Playing as well as we did last year, they definitely will enter the season with more confidence and higher expectations," he said.
Three Forks will have 21 players on this year's roster. According to Feliciano, they decided to open it up to all eighth graders because the recreation program has been struggling to find enough girls to make a roster, they didn't want them to have a season off, and they also really wanted to have an entire junior varsity team.
This year's varsity roster features Fallon Page, Sierra Schall, Eva Parker, Tycie Davis, Grace Kluin, Sierra Lindquist, Karlie McDermott, Maycee Church, Nova Ervin, AdaRae Thomas and subs Cherish Allen, Arabella McCauley, and Irene Mowry.
Feliciano said the inaugural team in 2023 was very young.
"So, we have all starters returning, which is great," he said.
The Wolves will also seek big things from seniors Page, Parker, and Schall.
"We have three seniors that will play a huge role in our success, not only in the win column but in helping pave the way and continuing to build our family culture," Feliciano said.
Three Forks will open the 2024 season with home games on March 26 against Ennis and April 2 against Butte Central, with varsity set to play at 3 p.m. followed by junior varsity at 5 p.m.
Following road trips on April 9 to Anaconda and a tournament on April 12 and 13 in Missoula, the Wolves will return home for an April 16 matchup against visiting Manhattan.
