BACKGROUND
(From Pastor Sara Lattimore)
After years of hosting the twice a year rummage sale, our leadership team began asking how we can help serve the community more and help the church continue its ministries in new and innovative ways. Last year, Three Forks was invited to participate in a revitalization program for churches and part of that process was attending an event called a Hatchathon through the organization Ministry Incubators. It was through the work of dreaming and visioning at this event that the Thrift Store was born.
The excitement grew with ideas of how the thrift store could engage the community beyond just an exchange of goods. The Greater Goods Thrift Store has the opportunity to impact the community with gently used items at reasonable prices, while also providing an opportunity to keep items with life still left in them out of the dump. We have the opportunity to provide a service that offers dignity to those who need a hand up with access to needed items or even job training skills through volunteer work at the store. We have opportunities to partner with the Food Bank and other local businesses and organizations. The Thrift Store has the opportunity to serve the community through a prom dress exchange, Upcycling workshops, Halloween costume fashion shows, and so many other special events. It is with excitement and hope that the Greater Goods Thrift Store is opening.
RUMMAGE SALES
Our Thrift Store Board and Leadership Team are so excited to have the opportunity to work together to offer this new opportunity to the community of Three Forks and beyond. Our rummage sales have become more than a sale but an amazing opportunity to build relationships and interact with community members. Our volunteers enjoy the relationships that are formed through the rummage and are excited for the opportunity to expand our network of community through the Greater Goods Thrift Store.
DONATIONS
Donations will be accepted during business hours while volunteers are present. (Please help us keep the store clean and running smoothly by not leaving donations outside the door and by making sure your donations are clean or freshly laundered) Currently, we are taking gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and household items. We will continue to post on social media our current donation needs.
If you are looking for a way to volunteer or give back to our community, please consider joining the Greater Goods team.
