On May 10th, Evelyn Ewan passed away peacefully at her home in Three Forks. Evelyn was born on May 30th, 1935, in the foothills just outside of Willow Creek to parents Raymond and Lillian Goakey. She was the third of seven siblings. Her parents worked on several ranches in Park and Gallatin counties, as well as in and around the Big Timber area. In her teen years, she lived in Springdale and attended school in Big Timber. On March 1st, 1956, she married June Ewan. Along with her children from a previous marriage, June and Evelyn added 3 more of their own. They moved several times in those early years before settling in on the CA ranch outside of Three Forks in 1965. June worked as a ranch hand, and Evelyn was hired as a cook for the Madison cookhouse. This turned out to be a great place to raise children and meet some very memorable characters that worked the ranch while living in the bunkhouse. All of them were like family as they shared meals, stories, laughter, and good-natured ribbing 3 times a day, 7 days a week. After 20-plus years, June and Evelyn retired from the ranch. Evelyn then decided to go back to work, cooking for a sorority at MSU Bozeman for several years. After leaving the sorority, she worked part-time for a grocery store in Three Forks. She also worked as a volunteer for the Three Forks Food Bank until her health became an issue. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Husband June, Brothers Lloyd, Dale, and Ralph. Sisters Betty and Marion, Daughters Linda and Carol, and son Larry. Evelyn is survived by her sister Jean of Oakhurst, CA, her sons Lonnie (Rose Ann) of Sparks, NE, son Carl (Linda) of Townsend and son Wendell (Konnie) of Three Forks, 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. As per Evelyn's wishes, no services will be held.
