The Three Forks High School Volleyball team closed out a busy week in style, picking up their first conference win of 2024 on September 7 with a hard-fought five-set (25-20, 20-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-5) at Lone Peak High School.
With the momentum from the victory, the Wolves will enter another packed week of action with home matches on September 10 against Ennis and September 12 against Big Timber, followed by a September 14 Road trip to Whitehall.
In other action last week, Three Forks lost to Manhattan on September 3 (25-20, 25-16, 25-17) and lost in three sets on September 5 at home against Townsend (25-12, 25-15, 25-16).
Following the match against the Bulldogs, Head Coach Jodi Sampson said the team had made many improvements from two nights before against the rival Tigers.
“There are a lot of positives. I really see the team starting to be able to overcome rough times, missed points, and mistakes. I saw them battling out there. It’s going to take some time. We need to keep a positive mindset and keep working hard. It was just a different mentality out there tonight, and it was much better than the last match. I’m seeing growth, and I’m excited about where we are going to end up,” Sampson said.
It was an excellent night for seniors Kennedy Rogers and Natalee Hayder, who Sampson praised for their play, adding many players did well in the match.
Sampson hopes the team will continue to improve in passing and serving and said they need to stay positive as they continue to build.
“Focusing on the improvements and focusing on passing and serving is huge for us. We have good hitters. We’ve got to get the passes in. Townsend is a good team, and I feel we were definitely giving them a run for their money many times, and it was positive and exciting,” Sampson said.
