Lady Wolves take down Big Timber, fall in 5 sets at Whitehall

The Three Forks High School Volleyball team picked up its second conference win of 2024 on September 12 with a 17-25, 25-10, 25-21, 25-17 victory at home against visiting Big Timber.

Two nights later, the Wolves fell on the road in five sets to Whitehall, 15-25, 25-21, 15-25, 25-20, 4-15.

Three Forks Head Coach Jodi Sampson said the team played really well together and served good against Big Timber, but against Whitehall, they did not take care of serving and passing and were not able to find a rhythm.

"I thought Thursday was a really good performance, but it does not make up for the next day. You have to get back into the gym and bring the same kind of energy. That's what they have to learn. It doesn't matter what happens in the past, you have to play in the moment and make it count," Sampson said.

On September 14 against the Trojans, Maddie Tesoro had a big night, finishing with 27 assists, three aces, and five digs. Ciel Gayle had a strong match with 13 kills and 12 Digs, and Kennedy Rogers finished her night with 19 digs. Mikayla Lear had seven kills and four blocks, and Nova Ervin finished with four kills and three aces.

In action this week, Three Forks will play their lone match on Thursday, September 19, when they host Boulder during Homecoming week.

"We need to come in with the attitude of working hard and making it happen all over again. I definitely know there is a lot of talent here, they just have to be willing to bring it onto the court every time. It's not just the talent, they have to be willing to bring the right attitude onto the court,' Sampson said.
