LeDoux sentencing set for November 12

After a change in plea, the sentencing for Alexander Norbert LeDoux will take place on November 12 in Montana's 18th Judicial District Court in Bozeman.

In his initial court appearance before Judge Peter Ohman on April 16, LeDoux had pled not guilty to eight counts stemming from a fatal head-on collision that killed 22-year-old Laysa Grewell on January 4 on Interstate 90 near Three Forks. In a change of plea on September 13, LeDoux pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and criminal endangerment. LeDoux also changed his plea to no contest on a charge of Fleeing from or Eluding a Peace Officer.

LeDoux, who originally made $250,000 bail shortly after his initial appearance in April, is currently in custody at the Gallatin County Detention Center. According to the inmate roster, LeDoux has been incarcerated under bond revocation since September 1.

According to court documents, LeDoux allegedly drove his vehicle in the early hours of January 4 in the wrong direction on the Interstate for approximately 20 miles. The documents state following a blood test taken over 70 minutes after the fatal head-on collision at Mile Marker 278, the toxicology report indicated LeDoux had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .198, well over twice the legal limit of .08.

Court documents also reveal that LeDoux drove 108 mph near Manhattan for most of an unsent 2-minute Snapchat video on his phone.

The documents show that Grewell, who was ejected from the vehicle, was the mother of one child and found out one week before the crash that she was expecting a second child.
