Busy slate of Halloween events planned locally

There will be plenty of chances for Halloween fun this year for local kids, with the Rebekah Lodge, Missouri Headwaters State Park, Three Forks FFA and Drama Clubs, and Three Forks Chamber all hosting upcoming events.

The Rebekah Lodge's annual Halloween Party is scheduled for October 26 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 20 E. Date Street, across from the Fire Hall. For $5, attendees can get a hot dog, chips, a cookie, and a drink. Costume judging will occur at 7 p.m., and a balloon stomp is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Missouri Headwaters State Park is also hosting an event on October 26. The Halloween at Headwaters is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event schedule includes a broomstick race, a bat book reading at 1:30 p.m., a Batty about Bats talk at 2 p.m., an Arachnid presentation at 4 p.m., and a costume contest at 3 p.m. It will also feature S'mores, cider, and cocoa.

The Three Forks Chamber Trick or Treat on Main is scheduled for Thursday, October 31, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and participating businesses will display an event poster in their windows.

According to Chamber VP and Special Events Co-Chair Jill Peterson, there is a great turnout yearly, no matter the weather.

"The Chamber enjoys collaborating with our local businesses every year to provide this fun event for the kids in our community. They really look forward to it, and we are grateful to our local businesses that participate to bring the fun to Main Street for trick-or-treaters," Peterson said.

After hearing feedback from parents asking to extend the event's hours past 5 p.m. to accommodate work schedules, Peterson said they have given participating businesses the option to remain open for trick-or-treaters until 5:30 p.m.

The FFA and Drama Clubs' "Spooky House" will take place in the basement of the Three Forks Community Library on Friday, October 25, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and on October 31, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $7 per person or $25 for a family of four.
