Later this year, Jesse Swenson will be sworn in as a new member of the Broadwater County Commission.
Swenson, who defeated incumbent Darrel Folkvord earlier this month by a vote of 2,392 to 1,937 for the District 3 seat, said he was shocked to learn he had won.
“You always hope that you’ll win, but you truly don’t have any inclination of how the election will play out until it’s over,” Swenson said.
According to Swenson, his number one priority in starting his tenure would be educating himself on everything that falls on the Commission.
“I know that there is going to be a huge learning curve, and I want to get caught up to speed as soon as possible,” he said.
Public safety in all areas of Broadwater County will also be paramount for Swenson.
“I look forward to working closely with the sheriff’s department to help them in any way possible to serve all Broadwater County residents,” Swenson said.
On the county’s southern end, Swenson wants to hear from residents to discover their concerns and “hopefully work together to find positive solutions.”
The newly elected Commissioner is also thankful for the support he received during the campaign.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported me during the campaign process and to thank all of those that voted for me. I truly want what is best for Broadwater County and promise to do this job to the very best of my ability. My door will always be open to the residents of the county, and while I know I can’t make everyone happy, I will always take all questions and concerns to heart,” Swenson said.
