Talented Three Forks Boys' Basketball team to open season at Magris Tourney

After a great offseason, the Three Forks High School Boys' Basketball team will open the 2024-25 season on December 13 with a home Magris Tournament matchup against Drummond.

According to Head Coach Terry Hauser, the team went 5-0 at this summer's Manhattan Christian Tournament. He added they also took the squad to the Gonzaga team camp, where they made it to the 'elite bracket.'

"This put us in the top eight out of 54 teams. Every team in the elite bracket had an enrollment between 1,000 to 2,000 students, so we were the smallest school that made the bracket," Hauser said.

The Wolves' leading returning scorer, senior Dylan Swenson, is currently injured but will return after Christmas. When Swenson does return, Hauser said he should have a big-time year for Three Forks.

"I am extremely excited for Dylan this year. He is a great kid on and off the floor. He had a great summer, and I have high expectations for him. This will be his fourth year being part of the varsity practices, so he knows what coaches expect from him," Hauser said.

Senior Hunter Feddes will also return for the Wolves. Hauser said he expects him to step up big for the team this season on both ends of the floor.

"He also had a great summer and so far this year has been playing with a ton of confidence and shooting an excellent percentage in practice from the three-point line, which we will need him to do. He has really bought into the weight room, and I also think playing football will help him on defense and to play more physical all around," Hauser said.

The Wolves will also return a great deal of size from last year's team, which includes senior Drydan Frisinger and sophomore Kanon Reichman.

"Kanon and Drydan, or as I call them the 'twin towers' have improved a ton since last year. I haven't had big guys and their size and skill level since Colter Miller and Corey Yecny played for me from 2016 to 2018. Also, Devon Long will help us on the inside as well and has improved a ton. We have a ton of size and strength this year, which should help us on the defensive end and high percentage paint points," Hauser said.

Senior Sawyer Andersen is also returning from last year's squad, and Hauser expects him to have a really good season.

"He is our most consistent shooter from the outside and free throw line and will be one of our captains and leaders on the team. Brady Olson and Carter Allen will also be in the rotation," Hauser said.

As far as newcomers, the Wolves will add Aaron DeFrance to last year's team. DeFrance was an All-State player for Harrison High School last year and scored 22 points in a December 2023 matchup with the Wolves.

"He can flat-out score from anywhere and will be a huge addition to our team," Hauser said.

Inching closer to the opener, Hauser said he is excited to have the Magris Pre-Season Tournament up and running again.

"The last time we had it in Three Forks was pre-Covid, so it's been four years. It's not only great to have two more home games and be able to host, but also great for the community as well. It will be an awesome weekend," Hauser said.

Three Forks will play their second game of the Magris Tournament on December 14 against Anaconda.
