School Library project highlights Art Students

Some amazing new artwork is hanging on the walls in the Three Forks Middle School/High School Library.

Librarian Kerri Moore said the library was updated during the district's recent construction and remodel, which resulted in an accent wall ideal for displaying artwork.

"Previously, a Three Forks graduate and fabulous artist, Jacob Ramsey, gave me a sketch of an elephant that I greatly admired. I told him I would have it framed and display it in the library. That spawned the idea of adding more student artwork in the library," Moore said.

Earlier this school year, Moore collaborated with art teacher Tyler Palmer to organize a contest for his classes. The work of the participating students was judged by faculty and administration. Moore said the winning artwork was then framed and displayed in the library.

According to Moore, the excitement generated from this contest and display was much more significant than expected.

"Students were eager to know who the winners were and there has been an enormous sense of pride among students. The competition was fierce. The students are to be commended for their amazing artwork. These pieces have added ambiance and warmth to the library. I hope to continue this project for years to come," Moore said.

Student winners in the middle school were Abi Williams, Dehlyla McKee, Tegan Soto, and Sidney Forsberg.

The high school student winners were Chloe Duvall, Ella Delger, Zaida Bertrand, Eva O'Brien, Hailey Williams, Isaiah Gather, Chloe Folgheraiter, Mackenzie Roy, Bella Meehan, Cahal McDonald, and Jayden Barnwell.

"We have an amazing number of artistic students in our school. This was an opportunity to showcase their talent," said Moore. "The artwork will be displayed for several years until we sponsor another art contest to replace the current art. At that time, the work will be returned to the students."
